Family are requesting help from the public in locating two men who have been declared missing and were last seen in Ucluelet.

Dan Archbald of Squamish and Ryan Daley of Jordan River returned to Ucluelet on May 13 after completing an eight week sailing trip.

The two friends have not been heard from since May 15, but were seen leaving Ucluelet Harbour on foot on security footage May 16 around 1:34 p.m, according to search organizers.

The two men had planned to hitch a ride back to Jordan River, just outside Victoria. They were last seen travelling on foot with their possessions.

Archbald lives in Squamish with his partner and two children. Both men have spent extensive time on Vancouver Island and are physically fit and experienced travellers, according to family.

Archbald, 37, is described as 5’9 with blonde hair and blue eyes. Daley, 43, has light brown hair and blue eyes and is also 5’9.

Search organizers are asking for people to spread the word about the missing men and volunteer with search efforts.

The family has started a GoFundMe campaign called “Find Ryan and Dan” to raise money for the search effort. So far close to $6,000 has been raised.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Ucluelet RCMP at 250-726-7773.

The Chief will update this developing story when more information is available.
