A 46-year-old Vancouver man faces 12 charges in relation to a string of bank robberies.

Police identified Sean Bishop as a suspect after a bank robbery in the 1900-block of Rosser Avenue in Burnaby on Feb. 24, according to Burnaby RCMP.

A warrant was put out for his arrest, but he remained at large, and is suspected of robbing 11 more financial institutions in Burnaby, Vancouver and Coquitlam between Feb. 24 and April 26 before being arrested in Vancouver on May 3.

Burnaby RCMP had received information of Bishop’s whereabouts and requested assistance from Vancouver police, who arrested him and turned him over to Burnaby RCMP.

After a lengthy investigation, involving the Burnaby RCMP robbery unit, Vancouver police, Coquitlam RCMP, the Real Time Intelligence Centre and Lower Mainland Integrated Forensic Identification Services, Bishop was charged with 12 counts of robbery.

“The strategic coordination of information between partner agencies played a significant role in the success of this investigation,” media spokesperson Cpl. Daniela Panesar stated in a press release.

Bishop’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 30.
