Record music, make a podcast, film and edit a short video at the North Vancouver City Library's (NVCL) new recording station, which opens on June 19.

The recording station will be free for anyone with a library card registered at NVCL and each person can book the station for up to three hours per day for a maximum of six hours per week.

Youth under 13 or who are not yet in high school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian when using the equipment.

The 10 x 14' sound baffled room fits up to four people, includes green, black and white backdrops and two Windows 10 PC's with professional audio/video production software.

The library will have microphone kits, camcorders, tripods and lighting equipment available to borrow.

Head of digital services Chris Koth says the library is partnering with The Cinematheque to offer a digital media camp for kids.

NVCL's recording station follows the success of the Vancouver Public Library's Inspiration Lab, which opened at its central branch in 2015.

Sign up for a tour of the recording station starting on June 25.
