Customers and staff at a downtown dollar store got a shock Thursday afternoon after a car drove through the window.

Just after 1:30 p.m. a white SUV was driving north on Hamilton Street towards Robson Street.

“For reasons yet to be confirmed, the drive lost control, drove onto the north-west sidewalk and crashed into the ABC Dollar Store window,” Vancouver police media relations officer Const. Jason Doucette said in an email. “Luckily there were no serious injuries.”

The driver was taken to hospital because “he may have suffered a medical incident prior to the collision,” Doucette said.

One staff member was also taken to hospital to be assessed.
