Eat a meal made by a celeb chef while dangling 50 metres above Vancouver

This summer, the option to eat a meal while you're suspended about 50 metres over Vancouver is once again on the table, thanks to the return of Dinner in the Sky.

Run by WESTCOAST Sightseeing, Dinner in the Sky has brought Vancouver chef Ned Bell on board for this year's event, and they've announced the date and location for the first round.

Dinner in the Sky will take place way up in the air from June 23 to July 29 in North Vancouver. There will be brunch, lunch, and dinner seatings, with a few packages available for different kinds of experiences.

“We are excited to have Ned Bell, who is both a talented chef and champion of the environment, join us in creating an unforgettable dining experience for our Dinner in the Sky guests,” said Robert Safrata, CEO of WESTCOAST Sightseeing, in a media release.

The way Dinner in the Sky works is that you are safely strapped in around a communal table, with the chef and their helpers and a safety expert at the centre. Up you go into the sky, where you'll have your food and drink while taking in a spectacular view.

You'll want to hit the restroom before you go up, of course, and be careful with your cellphone while you're taking your Instagram photos. The table holds a max of 22 guests, and your seats rotate and recline for maximizing your view experience.

Pricing starts at $149 per person for the two-course "Brunch in the Sky" package, and go up to $569 starting for a VIP experience of "Dinner in the Sky." Details about all of the experience packages are available online.

With Bell on board, you can expect to see his skilled sustainable seafood preparations, and his refined west coast cuisine.

"I love getting people excited about food,” shares Bell. "And let’s face it, dining doesn’t get too much more exciting and enchanting than when enjoying delicious local dishes and wines while suspended high above this breathtaking view."

“WESTCOAST Sightseeing looks forward to offering this spectacular dining and sightseeing experience to local and international guests this summer," adds Safrata.

Organizers say other dates and locations will be announced soon.
