Vancouverites are invited to choose their favourite bike rack from 30 shortlisted designs on display at CityLab.

“Installing creative bike racks is such a simple way to elevate public space, so we were excited to provide this opportunity to residents,” says Margaret Wittgens, director of public space and street use.

“It’s fantastic to receive this kind of creative input from residents – we received over 450 bike rack designs - and we are looking forward to sharing all this creativity with the public,” Wittgens says.

Shortlisted designs were chosen by a jury panel made up of cycling advocates, artists and design professionals including the city's artist in residence Germaine Koh.

The winner of the People’s Choice Award will receive $200. In a release, the city says all suitable designs will be added to suite of options that can be selected from as bike racks for installation in the future.

Winning designs will receive $2,000 and be installed throughout the city starting in the fall.

Voting is open until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 15 and the last day to vote on the designs is June 16 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

CityLab is located at the corner of Cambie Street and West Broadway.
