University RCMP were alerted to a "non-specific threat" on UBC campus at 11:30 a.m. and evacuated the University Services Building, at 2329 West Mall as a precaution.

University RCMP were alerted to a "non-specific threat" on UBC campus at 11:30 a.m. and evacuated the University Services Building, at 2329 West Mall as a precaution.

UBC says access to a second building, Buchanan Tower, at 1873 East Mall, was also blocked but people are now able to re-enter both buildings.

University RCMP with support from the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service are currently at the scene of the previously evacuated building and other areas throughout the campus to gather further information.

RCMP say that at this time they are unable to substantiate the threat.

"We thank residents and students for their patience while areas were evacuated and ask for your continued co-operation while the investigation progresses," says Sgt. Eric Baskette, Operations NCO for the University RCMP.
