David Foster will head to the altar for the fifth time after the Victoria native proposed to singer-actor Katharine McPhee over the weekend.
A representative for the Grammy Award-winning producer confirmed with Entertainment Tonight that Foster, 68, and McPhee, 34, were engaged during a vacation in Italy. A photo of the two looking at the ring was published on TMZ, while McPhee’s wrote in an Instagram post that Foster proposed while on top of a mountain in Anacapri, near Naples.
It will be the fifth marriage for Foster — who was previously married to B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson and Yolanda Hadid — and the second for McPhee. The Smash star was previously married to Nick Cokas for six years, before splitting with the talent manager in 2014.
Foster has been married four times and has eight children from his previous marriages.
The couple was first linked romantically in 2017, though their relationship dates back more than a decade. They first met in 2006 during a taping of American Idol, where McPhee placed second during a record-setting season finale that was seen by 31 million viewers in the U.S. alone.
She kicked off her musical career with 2007’s Katharine McPhee, eventually making it to the No. 2 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200. Foster has earned several entertainment industry honours, including three Academy Award nomination for best original song.
