BC Ferries says problems on one of its ferry runs between the Mainland and southern Vancouver Island continue with the cancellation of more sailings.

The ferry operator says the 6 a.m. sailing from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and the return 8 a.m. trip from Swartz Bay to the Mainland have been cancelled because of ongoing issues aboard the Queen of New Westminster.

The company says there is a problem with one of the vessel's controllable pitch propellers.

Six sailings, three in each direction, were cancelled Sunday because of the same issue.

The Spirit of Vancouver Island, Spirit of British Columbia and Coastal Celebration are still operating on the Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen route but the ferry corporation warned Sunday that passengers should expect the terminals to be extremely busy.

BC Ferries has said travellers with reservations on cancelled sailings will be refunded their reservation fee and accommodated on the next available sailing.
