Oldrich Houba has a pool and is inviting ? and her family over
Earlier this week we published THIS STORY about how a family was ID'd while swimming in the pool of their own townhouse complex.
Guerda Henry went to social media to post an interaction that occurred after they were ID'd. Guerda, who is black, said she believes the incident was an episode of racial profiling, adding it was not the first time she had experienced it at the complex.
She's hoping to educate people about racism.
After we published that story we received an email from Oldrich Houba, a man who immigrated to Canada from the Czech Republic a few years ago. Oldrich said:
"I just read your article about the racial profiling and the family in Surrey that couldn't use the swimming pool. I'm appalled by that. Disgusted. I live fifteen minutes drive from Guildford and would love for this family to feel included and accepted. I have a swimming pool in my condo and they are most welcome to use it as my guests."
Touched by Oldrich's letter and invitation to the family, I decided to throw in a hundred bucks so he can either order in some food or throw a kickass BBQ for the Henry family, whom we've reached out to with his offer.
