August is one of the most delicious months of the year in Vancouver. We've got tons of food events where you can feast until you're full--and beyond--as well as a whole bunch of other gatherings focused on libations.
From cider tastings to dinners paired with beer or wine, here are 10 events of note taking place this month in Metro Vancouver. We'll add more as we get word of more events for August. Stay tuned!
S&O Supper Series No.2
Steel & Oak Brewing Co./Facebook
Join chef Todd Graham behind the brewery as he puts together an amazing Southern BBQ for 30 lucky guests, paired with beer of course. Menu includes: Ribs, brisket, sausage, corn, collard greens, potato salad, cornbread, and dessert. They will also have a selection of Steel & Oak beverages to choose from throughout the night.

Tantalus Vineyards Wine Takeover Dinner
Tantalus Vineyards will be taking over the YEW seafood + bar wine list for one night only. Their wines capture the imagination and provide a perfect harmony with YEW’s locally driven menu. YEW’s culinary team has created a menu focused on the late summer harvest of British Columbia paired with Tantalus wines that evoke a sense of place from their beautiful Okanagan valley vineyard. Feast at the communal dining table for the VIP dinner; General Tasting Dinners will be seated in individual groups.

Champagne et Fromage

Experience a tutored tasting of exclusive Grower Champagnes paired with a dreamy line up of French cheese. Learn more about Grower Champagnes and how they differ from the fizz of the big names in the industry. You will be taken through a tutored tasting of the different champagne types from the standard, Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, and Rosé.

Vancouver Craft Brew Cruise
Join the Vancouver Craft Brew Cruise aboard The Magic Spirt at False Creek, Plaza of Nations. A selection of BC's finest craft brewers have been selectively invited to participate on this annual voyage. It’s a celebration of craft brewing...on the water. Two unique sailings are scheduled on Saturday, August 11, and each session will run for a “three hour tour."

"When Poultry Meets Wine" Pop-up Dinner by Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry
Edible Canada, in collaboration with Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry and Ripples Estate Winery, will showcase the talents of their culinary team with a 4-course plated dinner. The menu will feature locally sourced, grown and harvested ingredients from some of the most incredible farms throughout the Fraser Valley. Each course will be impeccably paired with a different wine, introduced by the Ripples Estate and Sommelier Ashley West before being poured.

The Hop Strikes Back
This is a bonanza event for IPA lovers. Fuggles & Warlock in Richmond loves hops and IPAs and what better way to celebrate them than to have thirteen of their brewery friends join them to share their beers with you. Your ticket gets you 4oz pours of IPAs from your choice of 14 breweries pouring a collective 28+ IPAs, plus a souvenir glass. Twin Sails, Backcountry, Luppolo, Steel & Oak, and more will be there.

East Van Cider Fest

Liberty Merchant Company proudly presents the 2nd Annual East Van Cider Fest in support of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society. The evening will feature cider, mead & spirits from all over BC along with tasty bites from local businesses.

Steveston Beer Fest 2018
Raise a glass at the sixth annual Steveston Beer Fest. The Beer Fest will host approximately forty booths and will showcase craft beer from British Columbia, the United States and other countries from around the world. This event is intended to entice those that are new to craft beer as well as the experienced palate.

Battle of the Brews 2018
This fun charity event will offer attendees a great afternoon of craft beer tasting, delicious food sampling and Vancouver's best modern rock station, 102.7 THE PEAK will be live on site. Attendees will get the chance to help choose their favourite beers and all proceeds from the event will fund Athletics 4 Kids and Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society youth initiatives. Tickets include everything: Entrance, souvenir tasting mug, all your beer samples, all your food samples and water. No beer tickets!

Tacofino Beer Dinner Series: Strathcona Beer Company

On Thursday, August 30, Strathcona Beer Company and Tacofino will team up for a 5-course dinner at our Hastings Sunrise location. With two seatings at 6 pm and 8:30 pm, the dinner will showcase beer from Strathcona Beer Company paired with brand new Tacofino dishes created by Executive Chef Stefan Hartmann and Head Chef James You.
