Folks expecting to cross the Pattullo Bridge into New Westminster next Sunday or Monday might want to make other plans.

The bridge’s two northbound lanes will be closed to traffic both Sunday and Monday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day. FortisBC is closing the lanes so its crews can inspect a gas line that runs along the bridge, according to a press release from FortisBC.

“This gas line is regularly inspected to ensure that it continues to meet our high standards of safety. We would like to thank motorists for their patience while we complete this necessary inspection of our gas line,” read the release.

Drivers coming from Surrey are asked to use the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges during the closures instead. Pedestrians and cyclists will be still be able to use the bridge as well as emergency vehicles.

Transit users taking the N19 Downtown NightBus will also be diverted to the Alex Fraser Bridge. Riders should expect an additional 30 minutes of travel time, noted the release.

Southbound lanes on the bridge will remain opening during the schedule northbound closures.
