Bistro Pastis' current owner, Stefen Langford, bought the French restaurant in 2016, maintaining much of what the neighbourhood spot was known for. Original owner, John Blakeley, retired nearly two years ago, selling the business to Langford, who had previously been in the hospitality industry as restaurant floor staff before moving into a career with Best Buy.

According to the restaurant, Langford is packing it in due to "the economic pinch that many restaurateurs are now feeling," in the city.

"I have enjoyed meeting so many new people and wonderful customers, especially while realizing my dream of owning my own restaurant. It has been an exciting time, however brief. I would like to thank my customers, employees past and present, and suppliers, many of whom have been so helpful to me," Langford adds in a media release.

To say goodbye, Bistro Pastis is offering a special three-course menu for $39:

  • Soup de Jour or Green Salad or Pâté and
  • Beef Bourguignon or Duck Confit Salad or Sockeye Salmon and
  • Crème Brulée or Chocolate Mousse

Bistro Pastis is located at 2153 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver
