Everything you can eat and drink at SKOOKUM Festival

Taking a cue from events like Coachella (where people go as much for the food as for the music these days), Vancouver's inaugural SKOOKUM festival next month is promising to be a culinary feast.

These days, a music festival isn't just a concert, it's a whole experience, including carefully curated food options.

Taking a cue from events like Coachella (where people go as much for the food as for the music these days), Vancouver's inaugural SKOOKUM festival next month is promising to be a culinary feast.

Several of Vancouver's top restaurants are participating in the food portion of the three-day event, which takes place September 7 to 9, 2018, in Stanley Park.

“Between long-table dinners involving some of the BC’s best restaurants and chefs, restaurant pop-ups, the Picnic Basket program, and food trucks that will offer a variety of options, there will be a level of diversity to satisfy anyone’s sense of taste or budget," says SKOOKUM Festival Director Paul Runnals in a media release.

Bringing their delectable eats to the fest are places like Monarch Burger and their infamous "nose-to-tail" burgers, fresh foods from Birds & the Beets, cool treats from Calgary-based Fiasco Gelato, noodles from Fat Mao, some heat from Vij's Rangoli, and some BBQ flair from Smoke & Bones--to name just a few.

In addition to on-site food vending, restaurants and chefs are coming on board for all sorts of tantalizing events as part of the festival, with something special happening each night of the fest:

  • September 7: SKOOKUM Long Table Dinner Series featuring Edible Canada with Ocean Wise ambassador Ned Bell
  • September 8 Joy Road Catering from the Okanagan Valley
  • September 9: St. Lawrence + Kissa Tanto collaboration

Plus, SKOOKUM Picnic Baskets are available for catered lunches, featuring food from places like Hawksworth, Bel Cafe, Honey Salt and les amis du FROMAGE.
