Man injured after homemade bomb detonates in Coquitlam home

Coquitlam RCMP investigators are working to figure out what led to the detonation of a homemade bomb in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue.

Police say the explosion happened at about 7:20 p.m. last night, August 14 and resulted in serious but not life-threatening injuries to a man who lived at the home.

The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) was called in and its members located and disarmed a second item of concern.

EDU will continue working with Coquitlam RCMP throughout today to ensure that the area is safe.
