Coquitlam RCMP investigators are working to figure out what led to the detonation of a homemade bomb in the 1400 block of Ross Avenue.

Police say the explosion happened at about 7:20 p.m. last night, August 14 and resulted in serious but not life-threatening injuries to a man who lived at the home.

The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) was called in and its members located and disarmed a second item of concern.

EDU will continue working with Coquitlam RCMP throughout today to ensure that the area is safe.

If you saw or heard anything that may help police determine exactly what happened, please call the non-emergency line of Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Investigative Support Team (file 2018-25330).
