Multiple charges have been approved against a Richmond man in relation to a vehicle theft that led Surrey Mounties to a significant drug and weapon seizure.

Robert Leo Jones, 37, has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5000, driving while disqualified and breaching court imposed conditions. Surrey RCMP confirmed with the Richmond News that those charges were in relation to a stolen 2018 Audi Q7.

According to Mounties, that same vehicle was tracked to a residence on 137a Street near 105a Avenue in Surrey last Wednesday.

On Thursday, RCMP searched that residence and found two loaded sawed-off shotguns, two sawed-off rifles, two handguns, four stolen motorcycles, one crossbow, firearm ammunition, body armour, swords and knives.

They also found nearly 3,000 doses of a variety of suspected drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin.

No charges except the ones against Jones have been laid. The investigation is still ongoing.

“This investigation and seizure highlight the importance of reporting property crime,” said Cpl. Chris Kajan in a press release.

“In this case a reported stolen vehicle was the catalyst which allowed us to remove six guns from the street, and gather valuable evidence and information for our continued efforts to address criminal activity in Surrey.”
