Pet-A-Palooza - Day of the Dog will be holding its first-ever puppy stampede in Yaletown on Sunday and the competition is open to all breeds under six months old.

The Running of the Bulls event returns for this year's pet-fest with separate races for French bulldogs and English bulldogs for the chance to win $500 in prizes.

Wiener dog owners will be pleased to hear that their dogs have a race all to themselves and are encouraged to use the cheeky hashtag #YOUDIDWHATWITHYOURWIENER.

Interested pet owners can register their dogs to compete at the barking babies booth.

Treat your dog to a free sample from JD Farms' raw bar as you browse the exhibitor booths and try out a new dating app for pet owners called Sexy Beast. The app allows users to swipe left or right on a photo of an individual's furbaby and is scheduled for release later this summer.

Pet-A-Palooza started in Victoria by co-founders of the Just Love Animals Society Jordan Illingworth and Lonnie Powell. The event is a fundraiser for the Victoria-based society, which provides education and awareness on holistic animal care.

Pet-A-Palooza is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 26 along Mainland Street in Yaletown.
