Takeout pasta is apparently a trend on the east coast, and now Vancouver is hopping aboard with the debut of a new restaurant for the grab-and-go set, called The Sauce Pasta Cafe.
Located in the West End, in the space previously occupied by Fiery, a small sandwich shop, The Sauce Pasta Cafe will open their doors on Saturday, September 8.

Owner Kathy Korcsok says she was inspired by some popular gourmet Italian take-out spots in Toronto, and wanted to bring the concept west to Vancouver.
The former Ontarian is focusing the restaurant on "the sauce," itself, offering a Traditional Marinara as the Cafe's signature selection, along with options like Alfredo, Nonna’s Meat Sauce, A la Vodka with a crispy pancetta, Braised Beef Shank, and Creamy Wild Mushroom.
Customers can choose their pasta (everything from cavatelli to penne, as well as a gluten-free noodle) and their sauce, and get it to go. Those wishing to eat on site can sit down in the cafe, too.
Pastas are priced at $8.95-10.95, though specials may be a bit more, like a Lobster Ravioli with Saffron Cream coming in at $12.95.
Additionally, The Sauce Pasta Cafe will have their dishes available for delivery via services like Skip the Dishes and Foodora.
The Denman Street eatery is considered the "flagship" for The Sauce Pasta Cafe, which means Korcsok may already have an eye on expanding the brand in the region.
For now, it's all about getting the doors open, and pasta on our plates: “I’m so excited to share this labour of love with locals and provide them with fresh, ready-to-go pasta,” Korcsok says in a media release.
Another Italian spot is also headed to the neighbourhood; Richmond's Italian Tomato, known for their heaping portions and dizzying array of sauce and pasta options, is opening soon, too.
The Sauce Pasta Cafe is located at 861 Denman Street, and will be open seven days a week from 11:30 am to 8 pm.
