Debris from rock fall damages cars on Sea to Sky Highway

Four vehicles were hit with minor damage and Highway 99 near Pasco Road north of Horseshoe Bay was closed for 30 minutes Wednesday morning after a small rock fall hit the area.

Four vehicles were hit with minor damage and Highway 99 near Pasco Road north of Horseshoe Bay was closed for 30 minutes Wednesday morning after a small rock fall hit the area.

Several people called police shortly after 6:30 a.m. reporting that rock debris had fallen across the highway. Some of the biggest rocks were up to the size of a basketball, said Const. Jeff Palmer, spokesman for the West Vancouver Police Department.

Three vehicles had tire damage as a result of rock fall. A fourth vehicle had damage to the undercarriage, which resulted in some fluids leaking on to the road.

Highway crews attended to clear the rock and reopened the highway to traffic.
