Last month, Burnaby Now featured a photo of some junk that someone left right in front of a “no dumping” sign on Horne Street, just east of Gaglardi Way.

Now, a few hundred feet away, somebody has left another little surprise in the form of a shopping buggy loaded with onions.
A helpful reader sent in some photos of the buggy, which was deposited on Lougheed Highway, just west of Lougheed Town Centre.
The bags weren’t just full of any old onions – they were professionally diced-up white and red onions.
Oh, and the blue bags appear to be full of slabs of fat, so we’re thinking either a lazy restaurant owner or somebody who was making the world’s largest bowl of French onion soup.

What’s weird is that this isn’t some hidden area – it’s one of the city’s busiest roadways.
That takes some chutzpah.
As we reported in our previous article, this area has been flagged as a common area for dumping.
According to a story the NOW did on city-wide illegal dumping in May some of the hot spots for dumping in Burnaby are at Barnet Highway and Cariboo Road, 18th Street and 11th Avenue, Venture Street and Lake City Way, and in cul-de-sacs at Manchester Drive, and off Cardston Court, and Horne Street. The City of Burnaby is using cameras in some of these locations to catch dumpers.
People, please stop using our community like a garbage can.
