A GoFundMe campaign has popped up looking to raise money to find out who's behind the "super PAC" that is apparently funding the billboards supporting Hector Bremner's mayoral campaign.

The "Who pays for Hector Bremner ads?" campaign is looking to raise $1,000.

Bremner's campaign has been making waves leading up to the October 20th election as their candidate's face has been plastered on billboards and posters around the city. The candidate and his party have feigned ignorance as to who is behind the ads which are perfectly legal.

According to the GoFundMe campaign's founder, Justin Fung, it's not a joke.

A housing activist who co-founded the Housing Action for Local Taxpayers non-profit, Fung tells us that he feels "the campaign finance laws are not good enough." His intention is to raise awareness around the loopholes that still exist in British Columbia, despite changes that recently went into place.

He also hopes to entice a whistleblower to come forward.

He says that "When money flows through to have these ads show up somebody at Translink, or at Pattison, is working on it. Somebody else internally is working in communications coordinating it. There are a bunch of people who are aware" of who is behind the ads.

Fung is hoping that a cash reward will incentivize someone to come forward and out the person or group funding.

So far he's raised $163. If he doesn't solve the mystery he says they plan to give the money raised to a non-profit group which works to further democracy in B.C..
