Browns is crowdsourcing the name of their next Vancouver restaurant

Moving into the former Sellution space on Main Street at 16th in Mount Pleasant, the new Browns could either be a Crafthouse, like their newest Vancouver offering at Seymour and Pender in Downtown, or a Browns Super Duper Community Bierhall.

Browns Restaurant Group, best known for their Browns Socialhouse chain, has branched off in B.C. with two "Crafthouse" concept restaurants, with one in Vancouver and one in Fort St. John. Now Browns is giving the public the chance to steer the fate of a third planned location.

Someone also modified the voting sign posted in the retail space's window to include a third, handwritten, option: "C: None of the Above."

The public can have their say in an online vote, though you are just limited to option A (Super Duper) and B (Crafthouse).

So why do the vote? Chairman and CEO Scott Morison says “the involvement of the community will make this even more exciting. Why not ask the people what they’d like to see in their neighbourhood?”

A rep from Browns adds that things are still in the early stages, so no other details are available, however the Browns team are really exciting to be headed to Main Street in Mount Pleasant.

The space Browns is taking over is the former home of Sellution, the consignment furniture shop that had to pack up and head to Kingsway in the summer of 2016, due to increased rent. Last fall, Sellution announced their Kingsway location was going to close, after just a mere year and a half there, due to redevelopment.

But the good news: Sellution revealed this spring they were moving back to Main Street, just a few blocks from their former location.

When it comes to Browns on Main, we'll have to wait and see how the vote goes to find out just what is going on that corner of the neighbourhood.
