Free transit is being offered to kids and youth on Metro Vancouver buses next week as part of the ninth annual I Love Transit Week.

This opportunity runs from start of service Monday, October 1, through the end of service Friday, October 5, and is open to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 on all TransLink buses.

“The goal is to promote transit use and active participation at an early age, to encourage transit use throughout their lives,” said a news release.

“Teachers often take this opportunity to arrange field trips for their classes, travelling on transit.”

The offer, however, doesn’t include SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express.

As part of I Love Transit Week, students can win an all-inclusive field trip to attend I Love Transit Camp, a look behind-the-scenes at SkyTrain and bus fleet facilities.

TransLink is also offering a chance for 11 classes to win up to 35 DayPasses per class for travel on a day of their choice. A DayPass provides unlimited transit use on all buses, SkyTrain and SeaBus.
