BC Ferries adds a whopping 80 extra sailings over Thanksgiving long weekend

Thanksgiving long weekend is right around the corner in British Columbia and BC Ferries is sending in the reinforcements. In fact, the transportation provider has scheduled over 80 additional sailings on the Metro Vancouver – Victoria route.

Thanksgiving long weekend is right around the corner in British Columbia and BC Ferries is sending in the reinforcements.

Not only are they adding a great deal of extra sailings for the holiday, but they are also offering some travel tips to make the customer travel experience smooth and seamless.

In fact, the transportation provider has scheduled over 80 additional sailings on the Metro Vancouver – Victoria route. The extra sailings sailings include early 6 am departures on October 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th. Sailings at 10 p.m.

Sailings at 10 pm from Tsawwassen are scheduled for October 4th, 5th, and 8th, and at the end of the day from Swartz Bay on October 5th and 8th.

They are also adding additional sailings at popular times over the long weekend.

Sailings include:

  • the Metro Vancouver – Nanaimo route (Horseshoe Bay – Departure Bay)
  • on the Metro Vancouver – Sunshine Coast route (Horseshoe Bay – Langdale)

BC Ferries Long Weekend Traffic

They also expect that Thursday and Friday will be the busiest afternoons. In addition, there will also be a great deal of traffic on Saturday morning moving from the Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay terminals to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

The busiest day of the long weekend is expected to be Monday, with traffic returning from the Departure Bay, Swartz Bay and Langdale terminals.

With that being said, they advise guests to make a reservation in advance in order to ensure sailing of choice. Moreover, BC Ferries suggests arriving about 45 to 60 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing for walk-on passengers.
