WestJet's discount carrier, Swoop, just announced that they are offering service into Mexico with the addition of four new routes serving the cities of Cancún, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.
What's more, Abbotsford International Airport will enjoy twice weekly service to Puerto Vallarta and twice weekly service to Mazatlán International Airport. The low-cost flights start on January 12th, 2019 January 20th, 2019, respectively.
In addition, the airline will also fly out of John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton, Ontario. It will see twice weekly service to Puerto Vallarta International Airport and three times weekly service to Cancún International Airport beginning January 8th, 2019 and January 14th, 2019, respectively.
"Mexico continues to flourish as one of the most popular vacation destinations for Canadians,” said Steven Greenway, President of Swoop. “Combining Swoop’s ultra-low fare with the favorable exchange between the dollar and peso makes the value proposition of exploring Mexico enticing for families and budget travellers alike."
For residents of the Lower Mainland, this means that they have considerably more affordable alternatives for travel to Mexico. What's more, the airline will offer a seat-sale between Abbotsford and Puerto Vallarta for only $159 CAD one way. Similarly, they will offer flights between Abbotsford and Mazatlán for as little as $179 CAD.
In order to participate in the seat-sale, guests must book by October 7th, 2018.
Furthermore, for travel between January 8th, 2019 and April 27th, 2019, there 1300 seats available. Once those seats sell out, then the price will increase.

Note: While the low-cost carrier is an extremely affordable alternative, it is worthwhile to note that there are a number of additional costs. For one, luggage will cost extra, as will selecting your own seat or even speaking to an operator. As such, it is worthwhile to factor in what you need to bring, or if you want to sit in a particular spot.
