While it can be fun to work up a sweat on your outdoor excursion, sometimes its nice to do something a little less strenuous.

Located in the North Shore, The Dog Mountain Trail is an easy hike near Seymour Mountain that only has minimal elevation gain. As such, it is ideal for kids, people of varying fitness levels, or those that are simply wanting to take it easy. What's more, the hike takes about 2 hours to complete, which is ideal for those who don't want to spend half of their day on a hike.

And while the hike is relatively easy, it still affords hikers with a jaw-dropping view at the end. Indeed, a clear day on the mountain affords an incredible, panoramic view of Vancouver and the Howe Sound. What's more, the sunsets are breathtaking, and many locals travel to witness them throughout the year.

With that being said, it should be noted that parts of the path are a bit more technical. While it isn't difficult, you should be careful when stepping along several sections that are covered with slippery tree roots.

You'll start the hike from the parking lot, where you'll follow the trail for just over a kilometre before stopping at a First Lake. From here, you'll walk another kilometre until you reach the viewpoint.
