Delta police are on the look-out for a shipment of stolen Rocky Mountain bikes.
According to DPD, the shipment was stolen on Sept. 24. Local authorities are working with police in Eastern Canada on the investigation.

DPD say a container shipment of the bikes – unassembled and in boxes – arrived at the 1600 block of Clivedon Ave. in Delta at 3:30 p.m., Sept. 24. By 9:30 p.m. the container had been removed from the lot, by a semi-truck, suspected to be stolen out of Richmond.
The container contained 160 Rocky Mountain bikes, which retail from $3,000 – $6,000 each. The total value of the stolen bikes, all 2019 models, is between $600,00 and $800,000. The stolen models include the Slayer Carbon 50, Altitude Powerplay, Pipeline and Altitude. The bikes were intended to be sent to a network of dealers across Canada.
The empty container was located a day after the theft, abandoned at the side of Hwy. 17.
“Delta Police did not alert the public when the bikes were first stolen, as police wanted to pursue a variety of investigative avenues,” said DPD public affairs coordinator Cris Leykauf. “Recently the bikes have begun to surface in Ontario. However, the majority of the bikes are still outstanding.”

“Our officers are looking for any information that leads to the recovery of the bikes, or the arrest of the people involved,” added Leykauf.
