83-year-old woman becomes Vancouver’s 6th pedestrian fatality of 2018

Vancouver police are investigating after an elderly woman was hit and killed while crossing Main Street Wednesday morning.

The 83-year-old Vancouver woman was crossing East 30th Avenue along the east side of Main Street just after 11:30 a.m. when a black pickup truck making a right turn onto Main Street struck her at a low speed.

Paramedics took the woman to hospital but she died a short-time later.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators.

This is the sixth pedestrian fatality of 2018.

Police are asking anyone with dash-cam footage, who may have been driving in the area on Wednesday between 11:20 a.m. and 11:40 a.m., to contact investigators at 604-717-3012
