BC Ferries cancels sailings on Vancouver routes due to massive wind storm

Thursday's huge wind storm is already wreaking havoc on travel plans for those using BC Ferries to and from the lower mainland.

BC Ferries has cancelled a significant portion of today's sailings, primarily those departing from and arriving to Tsawwassen, as well as early morning sailings in and out of Horseshoe Bay.

Here are all the cancellations as posted currently by BC Ferries:
Cancelled until after 2 pm:
  • Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay
  • Tsawwassen-Duke Point
  • Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands
Cancelled until after 8:30 am:
  • Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay
  • Comox-Powell River
Cancelled until after 10 am:
  • Hornby Island to Denman Island

BC Ferries says they will update the cancellations after 9:30 am Thursday, however the winds are expected to increase as the day progresses, with Environment Canada warning that Thursday afternoon could find gusts of over 100 km/h across the lower mainland.
