It may not come as a shock that Canadians spent a great deal of money on marijuana once it was legalized, but the exact figure may surprise you.

According to Statistics Canada, residents spent a staggering $43 million on cannabis in the first two weeks after it was legalized. Now, cannabis stores are part of the department's retail trade report, and, according to the report, retail sales increased 0.3% to $51.0 billion in October in the country.

With that in mind, Statistics Canada notes that the availability of cannabis across the country was affected by differences in retail structures in each province and territory. Further, it states that the, "retail figures will vary as new stores continue to come on line and the marketplace continues to evolve."

As a result of this, it is difficult to predict retail estimates for Cannabis Stores until there is a complete month to use for reference.
