Federal offender wanted Canada-wide after failing to return to Vancouver halfway house

Vancouver police are asking the public for help after a federal offender failed to return to his halfway house on New Year's Eve.

Chad Patrick Poitras is serving the remainder of his two and a half year sentence in a Corrections Canada community residential facility and is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. The 33-year-old has been convicted of a number of crimes in the past involving weapons, drugs, assaults and driving offences.

He is described as Indigenous, 5’10” and 220 pounds. In addition, he has short, reddish-brown hair and is clean shaven. He also has a number of tattoos, including a scorpion on the right side of his neck.

Anyone who sees Chad Patrick Poitras, or has information about his whereabouts, is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
