Simply put, if you want to meet new people, you’ve got to switch things up, especially if you’re looking for love. So in the spirit of new beginnings, here are 5 out-of-your-comfort-zone ways to meet new people in Vancouver. Let 2019 be YOUR YEAR!

Not only is the Vancouver Art Gallery an incredibly beautiful and relaxing place to meet new people, each room offers a conversation piece and ice breaker, meaning there will never be a moment where you fear having nothing to say. On top of being a great place to connect with new people, the art gallery is brimming with fascinating artworks, representing pivotal moments in culture, history, politics and more. The more you can get from an experience, the better, so don’t head into any of these activities just hoping to meet someone, focus on learning, enjoying yourself and pursuing your own interests along the way.

Talk about thrilling! Escape rooms are a super fun and wildly interesting way to get know new people. Not only will you have to work together, you’ll leave with a new set of friends, having bonded over a pretty adventurous evening out. This is a fantastic and totally out-of-the-ordinary way to put yourself out there while meeting people in the process. If your nervous, go with some friends, have fun and good luck!

Despite what you may think, not every Vancouverite is an avid skier or snowboarder. However, some pretty good mixing and mingling can happen on the mountain. There’s action, adventure and plenty of fireside hot chocolate. If you’re not ready to go barrelling down a mountain at top speed in the name of love, snowshoeing is a great alternative. While it’s harder than you’d think, snowshoeing is a more leisurely way of getting out into nature with a group of likeminded people. With gorgeous surroundings and beautiful views, this is another awesome way to enjoy the process of meeting new people. Hurry, before the snow melts!

People always bring up fitness classes in the context of meeting new people. While we think that’s totally fine, there are a few “exercises” out there that are way more fun than aerobics. Trampoline Dodgeball a laugh-your-head off way to get in great shape and have a TON of fun meeting people. This is one of those activities where regardless of who you meet, you’ll leave with a big smile on your face. Bounce, dodge and connect!

Here’s a way to try something new while letting someone else do all the work. Vancouver’s comedy and improv scene is on fire, so why not spend the evening laughing your head off. Of course, it’s hard to have a conversation during the show (don’t be rude), but what a great bonding experience for everyone in attendance. If you’re really serious about meeting new people, up the ante and attend an improv class of your own.
