A Vancouver police officer is facing a charge of dangerous driving after an on-duty collision last year that seriously injured a pedestrian.
The B.C. Prosecution Service announced Friday morning that Const. Andrew Peters has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

At about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2018, an unmarked Vancouver police vehicle collided with a pedestrian in the area of Knight Street and 20th Avenue. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C., which investigates police-related incidents that have resulted in death or serious harm to an individual, was dispatched to the scene. In November, the IIO announced that the chief civilian director, Ron MacDonald, had completed his review of the investigation and forwarded a report to the B.C. Prosecution Service for consideration of charges.
“In approving charges, B.C. Prosecution Service must be satisfied there is a substantial likelihood of conviction based on the evidence gathered by the IIO and that the prosecution is in the public interest,” the IIO said at the time.
Peters is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 7.
