The crash was on Willingdon near Sanderson Way in front of BCIT at 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

A northbound car lost control and slammed into a tree which is on the median.

The driver was trapped and it took firefighters more than 30 minutes to free him using the Jaws of Life.

Paramedics then rushed him to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
