KAYAK has revealed its most popular travel destinations destinations that Canadians are searching for over Valentine's Day weekend this year.

The travel search engine notes that there has been a 50 per cent increase in travel searches for the big weekend over any other weekend during the month. It also notes that a survey revealed that 22 per cent of Canadians have been in a long-term relationship with someone living abroad. Similarly, 16 per cent have started a relationship while on holiday.

The three most searched destinations for Vancouverites are:

  1. New Delhi
  2. Los Angeles
  3. Tokyo

Vancouver also ranked as the second most searched destination by Calgarians, and the most searched destination by Torontonians.

In order to determine the increase in searches, KAYAK compared searches over the last 6 months for travel on February 14 through February 17, 2019 to every other weekend in February.

Global Finance Magazine also recently unveiled its annual list of the World’s Safest Countries, and Canada just missed the top ten.
