Goodbye, sun: Vancouver forecast calling for a chance snow tomorrow night

While Metro Vancouver has enjoyed a relatively dry weekend, the Vancouver weather forecast calls for a decidedly wetter Family Day.

While Metro Vancouver has enjoyed a relatively dry weekend, the Vancouver weather forecast calls for a decidedly wetter Family Day.

Environment Canada calls for a sunny start to Monday, February 18 with increasing cloudiness as the day continues. Following this, however, the forecast calls for a 60 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers. What's more, periods of snow or rain are expected to continue overnight.

Tuesday, February 19 calls for periods or snow or rain all day long. Following Tuesday, Wednesday calls for bright sunshine, but the sun won't stick around very long - the forecast calls for flurries on Thursday evening. Further, the flurries are expected to carry into Friday as well as Saturday.

Metro Vancouver has seen some unusually cold temperatures this February. According to Environment Canada’s weather data for the month, the average temperature is a low of one degree. The region has seen temperatures as low as minus nine this month, with a wind chill of minus fourteen.

What's more, the area has received over triple one month's snowfall in the first two weeks. The average amount of snowfall for February is 6.3 cm; Metro Vancouver has received 22 cm and counting.
