The 10-year reunion of Illuminate Yaletown will feature never before seen installations, as well as a selection of the fan favourites from previous years of the festival.

It’s back!

Illuminate Yaletown will light up Yaletown for one night only on March 8, 2019, at precisely 6:06 pm when the sun sets on the city.

The festival, which will be celebrating with a 10 year reunion, will feature light-based art installations that utilize advanced video and lighting technology that is both cutting edge and power smart. Imagine downtown Vancouver lit with brilliant swirling colours, geometric shapes and vibrant patterns. Needless to say, the city centre has never looked like this before.

The first Illuminate was in 2009 and featured 30+ light installations, attracting more than 40,000 people to the Yaletown neighbourhood. This year’s festival is expected to build upon past events as a “lite” version and a reunion of the exhibition, offering new and engaging installations and fan favourite light displays from the best-of-the-best artists from the previous three Illuminate events.

In addition to outdoor projections, animations and interactive forms created by Canada’s most renowned light tech artists such as Tangible Interactions and HFour, there will be special “6:06” Illuminate Cocktails at participating restaurants throughout Yaletown. If you’re looking to up your Instagram game, this free, one-night only event is the place to be. Make sure to #IlluminateYaletown.
