The Influential Women in Business Awards are celebrating their 20th anniversary of recognizing outstanding businesswomen in private or public-sector companies throughout the province.
What's more, two new awards have been added to this year's program. The new awards are meant to celebrate success and champion future leaders. For example, the Rising Star award will be presented to an outstanding young woman, who through her desire to constantly push boundaries and empower women and minorities, has made a positive impact on the community.
A second new award will be a bursary presented to a woman who has shown leadership and perseverance in the face of financial hardship; it is in memoriam of past Influential Women in Business Award winner Michelle Pockey.
Amongst the honourees are women who rose through the ranks to become senior executives or entrepreneurs. Many of them have helped influence and shape policy at some of Canada's largest companies. And, as always, the sheer number of high-calibre nominees was impressive.
