Metro Vancouver gas prices have climbed substantially through this week, and they are expected to rise even higher tomorrow.

In fact, the soaring prices are expected to set a new record in the Lower Mainland on Friday, April 5.

Dan McTeague, a Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy.com, tweeted about the rising prices, adding that the 1.16 cent rise in carbon taxes on Monday made the situation much worse.

McTeague stated that "Vancouver and the Lower Mainland prices have reached their highest since Oct 13." In addition, he notes that the region will see a new record of 164.9 cents per litre on Friday.

He also remarks that "gasbars hiked their retail margin by an extra 2 cts," which added to the province's rise in carbon taxes on Monday.
