Man fatally gunned down in Kitsilano in possible targeted shooting

A man is dead after what Vancouver police believe was a targeted shooting in Kitsilano Tuesday night.

Officers are investigating after a man was shot and killed near West Fourth Avenue and Burrard Street at around 8:30 p.m. The victim was in his vehicle, an SUV parked in the alley under a low-hung billboard situated at the rear of the Hideaway Eatery located at 2015 Burrard.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene.

“It is still early in the investigation, but this appears to be a targeted shooting,” media relations officer Const. Jason Doucette said in a news release.

Following their arrival on scene, police had traffic restricted along Burrard Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues. Drivers were being asked to avoid the busy area.
