Ali was arrested by West Vancouver police in the parking lot adjacent to the Ambleside soccer fields on March 16 after an altercation on the sidelines.

Police said at the time the incident began with a parent refusing to throw an out-of-bounds ball back into play in the dying minutes of a U21 playoff game between BC Tigers Football Club and West Vancouver Football Club.

Ali was released on a promise to appear in court with conditions including not contacting the alleged victim of the assault.

Ali is due back in court next month.
