Just after 11 a.m. on Sunday, police in the area were alerted to an injured man inside the washroom at the Carnegie Centre at Main and East Hastings streets. Officers found a man in his 50s with serious injuries. He is described as a 52-year-old Asian man with short, dark hair and a short, slim build.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

“Investigators are trying to piece together the circumstances that led to this man’s injuries,” media relations officer Sgt. Jason Robillard said in a news release. “The evidence collected so far has led detectives to believe that the injuries sustained by the man were the result of an assault.”

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call detectives at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
