Want to sip like royalty?

The chardonnay that was served at Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding, the 2016 Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Les Sétilles, is coming to a fine liquor store near you next week. However, only a limited amount of the prized intoxicant will be available for purchase.

Harvested from a small vineyard in France's Burgundy region, the rare wine will be available for purchase exclusively at JAK’S Beer Wine & Spirits.

When it was revealed that the wine was served at the royal wedding, it flew off the shelves in England with one store selling 810 bottles in under two hours.

Vancouver Is Awesome spoke to Lynn Coulthard, Head Wine and Spirits Buyer at JAK'S, who explained what wine enthusiasts can expect from the royal selection.

"Meghan was actually filming the series Suits in Ontario when she tried the wine," she said.

“The royal connection has already created a big buzz among our guests and staff, and especially now with the birth of Meghan and Harry's baby boy! But Les Sétilles will live up to the hype as it’s an elegant chardonnay,”

"The wine is truly elegant. While it has hints of toasty oak, it is also very vibrant, with acidic, lemony notes and a long flavourful finish; it is a must try."

Coulthard also noted that the wine is very user friendly, and pairs well with fish. What's more, it is selling for a reasonable $53.99 a bottle. With that being said, they are limiting sales to two bottles per guest to give more people an opportunity to, "drink like a royal."

The offering will be available exclusively at JAK’S Beer Wine & Spirits locations on May 17 at 2 p.m., ahead of the couple’s first anniversary on May 19.

JAK’S South Granville at 2658 Granville Street in Vancouver will also be doing a tasting of the royal wine on May 17 from 2 - 3 p.m. People are encouraged to attend the tasting dressed in the finest royal attire (fascinator, ascot, etc) for a chance to win high tea for two at the Hotel Vancouver.

In-store tastings will also take place at JAK'S locations in Williams Lake, Penticton, Campbell River, Maple Ridge, and Coquitlam.
