Calgary’s wildly popular all-day breakfast and brunch spot OEB has been in the works to expand to Vancouver for several months now, and opening day is finally on the calendar. OEB will open their doors in Yaletown on Monday, May 13, the restaurant has revealed.
Service launches at the first OEB outside Alberta starting at 7:00 a.m. at 1137 Marinaside Crescent. The former Hurricane Grill location, boasting 148 dining and patio seats, has been fully renovated.
“The oceanside Vancouver restaurant incorporates the open kitchen, clean lines and natural light that customers have come to love at OEB,” explains OEB via e-mail.
OEB Yaletown has an expansive bar and drink menu, along with Prosecco on tap.
For those familiar with the AB locations, you’ll see something different here in Vancouver. OEB’s Chef and founder, Mauro Martina, says he never duplicates a space with each new OEB. Inspired by the colours of the ocean and the mountains, the Yaletown restaurant’s design includes washed out farmhouse-style wood, lots of natural light, a living moss wall, and a microgreens garden.
On the menu are modern takes on classic dishes, made using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Look for items like the Waterfowl Benny (smoked Peking duck breast on a butter croissant); a Bacon & Buttermilk Waffle with salted caramel, powdered sugar and Quebec maple syrup; Hog & Scallops Signature Breakfast Poutine; Eggs, Lox & Caviar; and Sweet Dreams Are Made of This (New York Style Cheese Cake served between two pieces of french toast). For the purists, OEB also has more traditional breakfast dishes, too.
OEB Breakfast Co. will be setting up a reservation system in upcoming weeks to accommodate the demand for advance breakfast and brunch bookings from Monday through Friday. On the weekends dining will remain available on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers are encouraged to use the Yelp Waitlist App. which allows users to place their names on the waitlist remotely, and track in real-time the progress of the line.
OEB Breakfast Co. is located at 1137 Marinaside Crescent in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood. They’ll be open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
