Police looking for suspect after daytime sex assault in East Vancouver

Vancouver police are looking for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted on the city’s east side Thursday at about 11:30 a.m.

Vancouver police are looking for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted on the city’s east side Thursday.

At about 11:30 a.m. the woman, who is in her 20s, was waiting at a bus stop on 41stAvenue near Earles Street when an unknown man approached her and struck up a conversation. However, the woman did not get on the bus after realizing she had left something at home.

Media relations officer Const. Steve Addison said the woman left the bus stop heading south on Earles Street and realized the man was following her. He caught up with her and struck up another conversation. He followed her into her residence where he attacked and sexually assaulted her inside her home.

The woman was able to contact police after the suspect left.

The suspect is described as Asian, about 40 years old with short black hair and an average build. He was wearing sunglasses, a white tank top, back shorts and sandals.

Detectives with Vancouver’s sex crimes unit are investigation and want to speak to any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage from the area.
