This adorable stray pug needs emergency surgery so that he can eat properly

The young pug was originally a stray from Duncan that was brought to the Nanaimo SPCA with a number of concerning health issues.

Originally a stray, this sweet, pint-sized pug has an adorable face but a range of health problems that even make it difficult for the pup to eat.

The young pug was originally a stray from Duncan that was brought to the Nanaimo SPCA with a number of concerning health issues. One-year-old Ziggy has a damaged eye, an ear infection, and needs dental surgery for an overcrowded mouth that makes it difficult for him to eat.

Sadly, Ziggy has led a difficult life up to this point, and it will take at least a month to recover from his surgery before he'll be ready to be adopted.

“Ziggy is great with other animals and seems to enjoy company of kids and all people he meets on his journey,” says West Vancouver SPCA branch manager Charlotte Ellice. “He has clearly been through a lot in his short lifetime.”

Ziggy’s overall care is expected to cost about $2,320. He is on medication to treat his ear infection and has his surgery booked to remove his unseeing eye, which is causing him pain.
