Not only did RENT win the 1996 Tony Award for Best Musical, but it also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème, and was made into a movie in 2005.

Presented by Broadway Across Canada, the tour kicks off in Edmonton on Sept. 3 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and then stops in Calgary on Sept. 10 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

The tour stops in Vancouver on Sept. 17 with daily shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre until Sept. 22. Afterwards, RENT will make its final Canadian stop in Ottawa on Oct. 22 at the National Arts Centre.

The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour is produced by Work Light Productions, whose other touring productions include Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Something Rotten!, and the upcoming tour of the 2016 Olivier Award-winning production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

The show is two hours and 40 minutes long, with one intermission.
