The victim was a 75-year-man who died at the scene, according to police.

It appears as though he was not in a marked crosswalk when he was hit, police said.

The driver of the vehicle involved, meanwhile, took off.

“Witnesses say the driver stopped briefly at the scene and then continued driving eastbound on Marine Way,” stated an RCMP post on social media.

Police are now looking for a “vehicle of interest” described as a semi-truck pulling a dark-red shipping container.

Anyone with information about the semi is being urged to contact police immediately.

Burnaby RCMP is also looking for anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area around Marine Way and Boundary Road at the time of the crash.

Contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
