On Tuesday night at about 7:09 p.m., a concerned citizen reported that at least two persons were parked in a vehicle at Cameron Elementary School and were possibly passing a firearm back and forth.

Burnaby RCMP, Metro Vancouver Transit Police and the Integrated Police Dog Services attended and “were able to take three young adult males into custody without incident after covertly clearing the school grounds of members of the public. None of the persons taken into custody were previously known to police,” said a police news release.

“A loaded handgun that appears to be illegal to possess in Canada was seized.”

Police are investigating and trying to determine how the men came into possession of the gun.
