Those eggs that develop in warmer temperatures tend to produce females while cooler temperatures tend to produce males, how cool is that!?
You can learn more awesome animal facts and spark your curiosity this weekend at the Greater Vancouver Zoo!
As part of their Canada Day celebrations, the Greater Vancouver Zoo will be unveiling an all new alligator enclosure for their resident American gator, Pandora. The festivities will also include a giant inflatable alligator slide suitable for kids and bigger kids (also known as parents). Your first ride on the slide is included with admission.

On June 29, the Zoo will also open their interactive family farmyard. Don’t worry there are no alligators at this exhibit, instead families will be welcomed to interact with a variety of farmyard animals, including goats, pot-bellied pigs, chickens and rabbits. Families will get an interactive experience and a chance to learn about the zoo’s animals and conservation in a safe and animal-friendly environment. After that, be sure to visit the zoo’s newcomers, Reggie, a young male ostrich and Nita, a female mountain goat.
Also, don’t miss the Greater Vancouver Zoo’s inaugural Turtle Dash, a family friendly 5km race and 1km hatchling run happening on September 14 to raise funds for conservation programs. You can register for the event HERE.
